This month, I thought I’d share an article created by one of my long time clients HIROC (Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada), who I’ve been working with since 2021!
To spread the message of the professional development we do together, they had one of their staff members, Hayley, answer some questions about why she finds the sessions so helpful!

Did you know HIROC offers two 15-minute Mindfulness Sessions a month?
Better yet, these sessions are free, no need to expense to your wellness spending account.
We connected with Hayley after last week's class to learn why she finds the Mindfulness Moments with Trish so beneficial.
What do you personally get out of attending the Mindfulness Moment with Trish sessions?
Since the change from 30-minute sessions (which I also enjoyed) to the 15-minute mindfulness moment sessions, I’ve found it to be a short and welcome break every couple of weeks during the busy workday. It allows me to turn my focus towards being mindful and letting my shoulders relax! When the session is done, I return to working with some extra calmness.
Is there 1 or 2 things you’ve learned about mindfulness?
I try my best not to miss the sessions because Trish gives us helpful tidbits and techniques every time. It’s often something that is very simple but I wouldn’t have thought to do or taken the time to do if I wasn’t prompted by Trish.
Box breathing was one thing I have learned. There was a session not long ago where Trish took us through some stretches while sitting in our chairs at our computers. Those stretches felt great!
We all seem to have so many things going on at any given time. I also know that Trish’s lessons have taught me to focus better. It’s those little reminders that stick in your head.
I also must say that Trish herself is such a lovely and positive person. Plus, sometimes if you hop on zoom a minute or two early, you’ll get some great tv recommendations courtesy of Philip & Trish!
What would you say to our colleagues who may not be taking advantage of these free fantastic sessions?
I would say to definitely join the next session if you can! See if it’s something you find helpful, relaxing, motivating, calming...
We often talk about taking the time for ourselves (when chatting in the hallways or with friends and family), and this is 15-minutes where you can turn your busy mind off and simply listen to Trish as she takes us through our mindfulness moments.
Also, no one is on camera (except Trish) so rest assured that no one is watching you sit and breathe!
I know there are a bunch of others who enjoy the sessions as much as I do.
